Tommorow is the return of the 35 Division All-Star Game. Prior to the game, there will be a Home Run Derby that is open to all CDMSBL players.
New Scotland Town Park 3 p.m. HR Derby 4 p.m. All Star Game
I will be manning the grill and the coolers.
The HR Derby is open to all - $5 entry fee per player, $10 for those under 35. Winner takes 1/2 the collection, the other half will be donated.
The All-Star Game format is a bit different this year. Rather than having 6 teams on one side and 6 on the other, the two managers will pick their teams like sandlot ball. This should provide some interesting matchups as teammates may be facing each other. The two managers will be representing last year's finals matchup between the Cubs and the Orioles.
The division has contracted with Steve Lounello to award a gorgeous bat to the AS Game MVP. Steve told me he finished it at 1 a.m. this morning and it will look great on anyone's mantle.
A lot of time and effort went into this venture by a lot of people in the division - Thanks to Jim McQuade, Ralph Marrero and others who have spurred this on after a too-long hiatus.
Doug sent you an e-mail. He will be with me in Kingston tonight. You guys can either touch base in the morning, or by the picnic table and get it done.
I just want to thank Tommy Smith for pulling off, something that has been missing in this division for a few years, The AllStar Game. I also have to say that his position as the Commish, is a hard one, and it's a lot work and he has done a great job, especially with all the rain outs this year, he work with what little resources he had as far as fields were concerned. With that said its going to be a beautiful day tomorrow. Tommy as I said before I will be there early incase you need help. I took myself out of the HR Derby to make it fair for the rest of the guys. lol Lets have a great time.....
