The South Carolina Cubs came up with just a couple more timely hits than the Braves in a disappointing opening game loss. Ted Poleto threw 3 shutout innings in a stellar middle relief stint. The Cubs opened a 6-1 lead off of Braves starter Ted Martin. Ted Poleto came in and shut down the Cubs and allowed the Braves to pull to within 6-4 with runners on second and third, but the key hit just wasn't there. Tom Maney and Mike Girard each had three hits for the Braves and David Booker had two hits, including a solo homer in the ninth that ened the scoring for the Albany team. Tomorrow is a key matchup with the Detroit Diamondbacks. The Albany Braves will go with Phil "Mash" Gadomski as the starter in this must win situation.
