WINTER BASEBALL - NO, NOT IN THE CARIBBEAN LEAGUE - BUT ACTUAL BASEBALL!
The opening of the Glens Falls Sports Dome, with accomdations for baseball will soon begin play ( January '06) in a house league. Based on information furnished to me, the Dome will have a somewhat MetroDome look. The surface will be artifical turf with dirt cut-outs. The left field line will measure 330 ft, approximately 360 ft to center, and a 250 ft short porch in right. The ceiling height is 68 ft high, and like the MetroDome, comes into play. It should present and interesting and fun layout. The league play is open and unaffiliated. I have been made aware of the prospects of playing here by the Roy Hobbs Over-30 League. They currently have (4) teams entered for play. The Dome Management is seeking an additional 2-4 teams for this open league with no age retsrictuions that I am aware of at this time. They are looking to schedule 2-games per week (evenings) in an 8-week schedule. Estimated cost would be $100 per player, on a 11-12 man roster. They would like teams to come in intact, so they are looking for interested managers to step up, recruit and run their teams. Interested Managers should contact me at deadeye626@aol.com and leave your best telephone contact number, and I can provide more details.
Jimmy, Is this some sort of practical joke??? Where is this new dome? Can we really play baseball inside for 8 weeks during the Winter? Hell, I'm in!!! Just point me as to where and when!!!
I know you are looking for managers to step and take charge and set some teams. I don't have time for that, but I can always find time to play. If anyone is looking for an extra player, just let me know. Is there a website or anything about the location so that we can have some more information? Thanks for letting us know.
