On a beautiful Saturday morning (Jim McQuade, this is your cue), the Cubs got their second shut out in a row, with a 12-0 victory over the Highlanders.
Chris Dunn pitched the first four innings, giving up just two singles (Jack Griffen in the 2nd, and Mark Marshall in the 4th), and 3 walks, while striking out 3. Jonny Martin pitched a scoreless 5th inning, surrendering just one single (Bill Hamel), and walking none, while striking out 1. Mike Girard pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th, giving up just one single (Gary Bosko in the 6th), and walking one, while striking out one. The Cubs are just one Pirate run (on June 18th) away from 3 consecutive shutouts.
Andy Hoyle led the way for the Cubs offense with 2 singles, 1 double, 2 runs and 3 RBI's. Shawn Maney and Ron Massaroni each added two hits each. Ron drove in two with his two singles. The Cubs pounded out 13 hits in all in the win.
The Cubs push their record to 11-1, at the July 4th break. They next take the field on Wednesday July 10th, against the Reds at Albany Central Babe Ruth.

Great DAY of baseball at Bob Moore with a full seven innings with no risk of a shorten game due to darkness, no curfews, no setting sun in your eyes at the plate, no 100 degree first base dugout, no terrible lights, and no traffic to and from the park. Looking forward to our next day game on 7/20.
BTW..According to the field schedule Bob Moore is currently wide open on three Saturdays in July (7/13, 7/20, 7/27) for any makeups.
