The time has finally come for our CDMSBL league to be getting representation in the wonderful land of tournament baseball in the sunny state of Florida. I believe our league is sending down 3 teams from Albany and who knows how many players from our league that have been recruited to play on other teams as well. This year, The Albany Capitals aged up into a 53+ division of the Roy Hobbs World Series that starts next week on November 3rd in Fort Myers. Florida. The players representing our awesome CDMSBL are myself Mike Surin, Coaches Don Ball and Timmy Burns. Our veterans ballplayers are Pat Alston, Tim Borwick, Michael Cleary, Johnny Cortese, Michael Kocienski, James Preller, Jimmy Tesoriero, and Johnny Weber. Our newbies are James Bradley, Shawn Martin, Dave Reed, Stephen Schaefer, and Tim Vickerson. We have had a recruit for the past 6 years from the Colorado MSBL Michael White (ZZ) that continues to enjoy playing on our team. Last year we enjoyed 85-90 degree weather and missed a snow storm on our final game day. So wish us luck while we are playing in the beautiful Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins spring training facilities. I will try to keep everyone posted as to our hopeful successful endeavor in this years tournament after each game. Some of the facts that I can already share with you is that we will be enjoying Johnny Weber's cooking, possibly relaxing on one of Donny Balls fishing trips, and trying to decide whether to soak up sun by the hot tub, swimming pool or on the beach. Tough decisions. Mike Surin Albany Capitals 53+
Much luck Capitals. and thank you Mike Surin for once again organizing this team. I think its great you take full advantage of the trip to have some outside and tangent activities. This team will have its fun. such great facilities and Fort Meyers is a pleasant town. Okay its Hobbs ......but it might just be the ticket; age group, setting, and format you've needed to have more success on the diamond. Keep us posted Mike.
For the first time in a bunch of years, Im not playing in the Fall tourneys with CDMSBLers. But I have to say that the number of league posts just today makes me green with envy for everything about the CDMSBL. I moved to Florida five years ago. And, sure, my Orlando league has good players, and we get to play almost year round. But our league doesnt have the structure, organization, communication, and brotherhood that you guys have up north. Im headed to Hobbs next week with one of my FL teams. But I hope to see my Albany Capital buddies, and will be rooting for them to do well. Good luck Caps, Cubs, and Bombers!
