Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the revamped 55+ Cubs.
The defending champs lost 5 players from last year's championship team (retirement, moving, and free agency).
The players who filled those 5 spots were salty veterans who had been away from the game for a few years.
Ed Class, Alex Marin, Dave Schillinger, George Schillinger, and Ron McCarthy will be filling those holes in 2020, and hopefully beyond!

Last night at the Rotterdam Babe Ruth Field, on a sweltering night, 4 of the 5 returned to the diamond for the first time, in quite
some time. Big smiles were all around as Class, Marin, and the Schillinger boys combined to go 6 for 16, scoring 6 runs and driving in 4.
Every hitter in the Cubs lineup had at least one hit, while Mike Girard and Ron Lochner collected 3 hits each, and Marin, George Schillinger,
Jim Bonaparte, Jerry Rosen, Scott Ross, and Ron Massaroni all collected 2 hits each.

Meanwhile, the Cubs defense played error free ball, and Class, Bonaparte, and Massaroni combined to scatter just 6 hits and 3 runs in 5 innings.
Chuck Rebuhan led the way for the Peppers with two singles and scored 2 of the Peppers' 3 runs.

A ton of thanks goes out to Jim Bonaparte and John Reel for getting this game together on very short notice! Thanks also to Dave Plew who got his team
together for this game in less than 24 hours. Thanks Dave!

It was great to be out doing what we enjoy most! I'm saying some prayers that we get through the entire season, with all of the obstacles that we will face.
So far so good!
