Randy Mudge went 4-4 with 2 stolen bases, 3 runs, and 2 RBI to back the 4-hit pitching of Jeff Friedman as the WhizKids beat the Dodgers Tuesday night at the A diamond.
The Dodgers scored their only run in the bottom of the first on a single by Harold Staulters, a stolen base, a passed ball, and a fielder's choice by Mark Denicola. The Whiz tied it up in the top of the second. Bob Holmes and Mudge had 1-out singles. Holmes was thrown out at third, trying to advance on Mudge's single. Jim Porter followed with an RBI single, scoring Mudge.
The Whiz extended their lead to 3-1 in the fourth. Once again, Holmes and Mudge set the table. Holmes had a 1-out single, and went to second on a wild pitch. Mudge singled and stole second, with Holmes stopping at third. Porter plated them both with a single.
In the sixth, the WhizKids batted around, including 2 more singles by Mudge, and a 2-run triple by Friedman. All 7 runs came after 2 outs.
Darkness ended the game after 6 innings.
Best of luck to Don Ball and the rest of the Dodgers as the 2020 season winds down.
