Dave Sirani went 3-3 with 3 stolen bases and 4 runs scored to back the 3-hit pitching of Mike Kane and Bob Bolt to lead the WhizKids over the Giants Tuesday night. Kane (2-0) went the first 5 innings, giving up 3 hits, with Bolt finishing up with 2 hitless innings. Sirani started the scoring in the second inning on a single, stolen base, and scored on a single by Greg Mangione. Jeff Friedman made it 2-0 in the 3rd when he singled, stole second, and scored on a fielders choice. Sirani was at it again in the fourth when he led off the inning with another single and stolen base, and scored on a fielders choice. Giant starter Jerry Solomon was pitching well, as the 3-0 score after 5 innings indicates, but the WhizKids were able to get some breathing room in the 6th and 7 innings to put the game away. The Giants played well until the last 2 innings, and will be much improved as the season progresses, and their walking wounded return.
