Pirates 9 Arachnids 7

New Scotland, NY - The Pirates (3-0) continued to build on strong start to the inaugural 62-Division, with a tight win over the Don Wixon led Arachnids (1-2), by the score of 9-7, on Monday at Swift Road Town Park.

The Webslingers came out swinging in the bottom of the first, putting Pirates starter Jimmie Dalton on the ropes early with consecutive singles on 2 rips and 2 dunks by Mike Aiello, John Reel, Darrell Duncan and Ralph Caputo to jump out to a 2-0 lead with no outs. Dalton regrouped, got the next 6 in a row to settle in.

Pirates went to work in the top of the 3rd with 2 HBP sandwiched around a 2-rbi single by Art Wexler,
a Jim Jasiewicz knock, to go on top 4-2. Dalton again got jammed in the Spiders 3rd, with a lead off
single by Jim Edelman, 2 Bucs errors, and a John Reel single, retaking the lead at 5-4.

The Buccos, with no quit in them answered back, using singles by Rick Knipper and Jim Ansel, and the help of an rbi BB to Art Gianakos. Ray Meandro reached on a FC, for a ribby, followed by a gapper for a double, and 2 rbi for Ken Shaw, coming back from another deficit to go up 8-5. Dalton came back out for the 4th, and working on five in a row retired, before running out of gas, giving up his 2nd BB in 14.innings of 62s play. The walks always come back to bite you in the a**, as a Jim Wing double and 2 rbi made it 8-7. After battling in an uneven performance of 4 earned over 3 2/3rds
Dalton, smartly did not want to face the top of the Arachnids order a 3rd time, and hooked himself with 2 -outs in favor of Bill Farrell, who got the last out of the 4th.

Pirates tacked on in the 5th with a big run on a Jazzy FC, and great hit behind the runner single by
Mike Hart, and rbi ground out by Knipper.

From there it was all Farrell, 3 1/3 scoreless relief on 3 hits. Farrell had some great glove work by
Pirates 2B Ansel, who ranged well to his left on a wicked 1-hop smash with bases loaded in the Arachnids 5th too kill the rally for the 3rd out. It was Ansel again in the 7th, with 2 men on and 2-out
taking away a base-hit with a a nice grab and throw to nip the last Spider chance!

Wixon's club is deep with HOF'ers, great pitching and big bats, and a good bunch of guys. Good luck to them going ahead (just not against the Pirates)!

Congrats to JD and his Pirates. The Pirates have gone through a few lean years but JD has hung in there and has developed a solid team. They will be a contender throughout this inaugural year of the 62+ division. A bunch of fine fellows wearing the "P" on their cap. Good luck and looking forward to our next meeting.

In a large portion of cases, you would discover the default landing page on an internet browser isn't stylish and attractive. This requires the need to eliminate the Syntax content://com. Android.browser.home/ alternative on your Android program.
