What a series, Whew!! Congrats to Lex and the his Yankees squad for putting up a huge fight. They won the first two games, but the Pack showed its pedigree and fought back to win the next 3 games 5-1 ,9-3, and 9-2 led by Jami Burnetter who won games 3 and 5 , all the while wondering if he was getting a call to leave the field waiting on the birth of his new baby. Also Will DeRuve won game 2 with help of Eric Jazy Joyce who closed it out. This was a extremely emotional victory with a lot of nuances contributing to the fight! Congrats to the Tri- playoff MVP Jami Burnetter , Will Deruve , And Will Horan, the rock behind the plate who leads the charge for the Pitchers. Big hits all series from Ron Patterson , Jami , Eric Playoff Jazy with the winning hit in game 5, Fernando, and his stellar D in CF. It was a complete team effort to get this done, Both Wills , B J Roberts big hits also. and I couldnt be prouder to be the coach of this bunch. Back on top of the mountain! Thanks guys!
Another feather in the cap of Manager, Jim Bonaparte. This is his 6th championship as manager in the 30+ division. This team ranks up there with the best teams ever to play in the CDMSBL, and he is the glue that keeps it all together. He had a 35+ championship, as manager and player with the Mets. His 18+ team has been in the finals the past two years, and is knocking on the door for a championship there. He is a great teammate, and has been on championship teams as a player in the 45+ and 55+ divisions. He has taken on the tough jobs for our league; the jobs that nobody wants: manager, board member, commissioner. And when the chips are down and we need a field, who do we turn to? Jim Bonaparte - every time! Because he always delivers.
Sound like a lock for the CDMSBL Hall of Fame? It sure does to me! Long overdue, if you ask me!
Congrats Jim! Well deserved and hard fought championship! Likely the most satisfying of your tenure.
