Late report from the Albany Capitals in the Fort Myers Roy Hobbs tournament. Well we have played 3 games, scored 36 runs and presently can only report a 1-2 record. In game 1 against a Minnesota team, we held a comfortable 6-2 lead with Jimmy Tesoriero on the bump then going into the last 3 innings we just lost control for a 12-10 loss. Game 2 ( Twin Peaks Lumberjacks Florida) we lost control early but never gave up, scoring 17 runs late in the game but the damage was done with their 22. On Monday afternoon (Midwest Pirates Illinois) our guys knew our potential and continued to score and along with solid defense helped Johnny Weber with an 11-0 complete game shutout. The team making this marathon commitment to each other consists of Joe Careccia, Carlos Espada, Wayne Nicholsen, Pat Alston, John Weber, Gene Hallenbeck, Fred Muller, Don Ball, Jim Tesoriero, Tim Burns, Jim Bonaparte, Jim Bradley, Youri Alkalay (from Bulgaria), John Cortese, Shawn Martin and myself. We got the opportunity to root on our Cubs last night for the win! Does grown men playing a kids game ever get old? We have about 30 guys down here that say NO! Mike
That support at last night's Stadium game was much appreciated. As the game got tight and the situation sticky, in the 8th and 9th innings, all I could hear was my teammates and you guys encouraging me. It was a difference maker!
