So, my friend on the 55 Twins, Big Tom King, had chest pains while watching a JV basketball game one evening last week. He wanted to tough it out, but, finally heeded the advice of his wife Jill to go to the ER. You may recall that Tom and Jill lost their only son in a motorcycle accident this past June. Long story shortafter being assessed in the ER, Tom was airlifted out and had short notice triple bypass surgery yesterday at Bartlett Hospital in Cooperstown of all places. Jill tells us so far so good. Please take a moment and say a prayer for him.

Nothing new on Tom King at this point other than he is slowly recovering from triple bypass. One more piece of Twins news that came in this morning is that one of our teammates, John Newman, suffered an ischemic stroke a few days ago and was airlifted to a hospital on Long Island that specializes in treating his particular kind of stroke. John received a thrombectomy which saved his life. He was extremely lucky that the right doctors were on call and hopefully will suffer no long term loss of motor functions. He told me he intends to do what it takes to play baseball with us in 2022. This has been a tough year. Lets all count our blessings.
The good vibes, prayers, and wishes you all have sent to Tom King and John Newman have been a great help. Tom was allowed to return home yesterday after triple bypass and 12 days in the hospital and John was also released after treatment for the stroke he suffered. At this time the prognosis for both is said to be good. Both gentlemen wanted to be sure you all know that they have definitely benefited from your positive thoughts on their behalf. Merry Christmas gentlemen.

Hey Jim, thanks for the note, the updates and the news about the guys' improving health. Two fine men enduring worrisome surgeries. History of the league says that more than one fellow has bounced back from difficult surgeries. Here's hoping these two will as well. Please pass on my best wishes. - Mike

Jim, Sorry to hear of the health issues for both of these guys. I'm sure they are like family to you and your teammates, just like my teammates are like family to me. I will add some additional prayers for you and the rest of your team as it is very tough to hear that your buddies are hurting. Here's to a very happy and healthy holiday season for the Twins and all of our brotherhood here in the CDMSBL!
