Baseball returned for the CDMSBL 2022 season last night as the 62 Americans squared off against the Arachnids on beautiful A Diamond. It was a cool and very breezy evening that did not help pitchers on either team throw strikes. Between the 2 teams there were 17 hits and 21 walks. The game was called due to darkness after 5 with the Arachnids coming from behind to take a 12-9 win. The Americans held a 4-1 advantage early with the lead changing hands several times after that. Scott Ross went the distance for the Americans. Stefan Koutsakis started for the Arachnids going 3 1/3, Duncan went 2/3, and Don Wixon picked up the win holding the Americans scoreless in the 5th. Leading the Americans offense were Scott Ross and Mike Labarge with 3 and 2 hits respectfully. For the Arachnids, Stefan Koutsakis and Darrell Duncan each had 2 hits with Koutsakis lining an opposite field triple in the 3rd. Rick Knipper scorched a solid double to left center in the 4th. Nice to be back.
