As most of you that play in the CDMSBL are aware, Dennis Lane takes care of the Watervliet High School field for our use. He maintains the field for the 45 & 55 Divisions whether he has a game that day or not. I spoke to all of the 55 coaches earlier in the season to see if there was interest in taking up a collection to benefit Dennis' wrestling team of which he coaches. Well the 55 players came through big time. We were able to give Dennis a check for $1,000. I would like to say thank you to all of the 55 players for their generosity and appreciation for what Dennis does to allow us to play on a 1st class field. Again, Thank You all. Gene H.
A terrific, thoughtful gesture, Gene. Hats off to you and your fellow donators. I've long thought that baseball is more than a game. You and the others have shown just that.
