Near flawless ball is required to have a shot at beating top tier teams. That and scoring more than 1 run of course. Wayne Nicholsen pitched well allowing just 3 earned runs, 9 hits, 1 K, and 3 walks. Lex Herlett gave up1 earned run, 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. For the Twins, Charlie Freer went 3-3 and Rick Saidenberg 2-3. Freer also threw out 2 runners. Joe Careccia, Dave Smitherman, and Richard Royko had 2 hits each for the winners.
