Last week when the Arachnids and Yankees squared off the stellar starter for the Yanks, Craig Miller, hit 3 Arachnid batters and was forced by rule to leave the tie ballgame with one out in the bottom of the 7th , runners at first and second. Wayne Nicholsen greets the reliever with a single driving home the winning run. Last night Miller, again the starter, hit the first Arachnid batter, Stefan Koutsakis, who came around to score after a TJ Scorsone double and a Yankee infield error. 1-0 Spiders. Bottom of the1st the Yankees score 2 as Bob Holmes walks, Tim Brown doubles, and Pete Gennellis knocks them in with a long single. Gennelis tried to stretch the single into a double but was thrown out at second 8-4-6. 2-1 Yanks. Arachnids tie it in the top of the 3rd with TJ Scorsone singling, a double by Darrell Duncan, and an RBI single by Jim Wing. Top of the 3rd Nardacci hits a one out single, steals second, and scores on a Bob Holmes single. 3-2 Yankees. Goose eggs for both teams in the 4th as both teams stranded 2. Top of the 5th starts with a Koutsakis double, Scorsone walks, Duncan reaches on a fielders choice as Scorsone is out at 2nd. Lee Madsen singles knocking in Koutsakis, Jimmy Wing singles, Joe Parker singles scoring Duncan, Wing scores on a fielders choice grounder by Reel, Parker out at second and the Arachnids are out on a 5-3 Tom King groundout. 5-3 Spiders. Yankees score one in the bottom of the 5th. After 2 fly outs to center, the first a spectacular diving rolling catch by Koutsakis off the bat of Rodriguez, the Spiderguys made two infield errors followed by a single by Gennelis to plate Holmes and closed to within 5-4 after 5. Scorsone relieved Nicholsen with 2 out in the 5th. Top of the 6 the Yankees bring in reliever Gennelis. Jim Edelman singles with a one out to left center followed by walks to Draves, Koutsakis, and Scorsone scoring Edelman. Bases loaded with one out and John Weber comes on to pitch getting 2 outs on a fielders choice and a pop to second. 6-4 Nids midway through the 6th. Ted Polito opens the bottom of the 6th for the Yankees lining a screamer to John Reel in right. A walk and a single to Ron Smaka were neutralized when Scorsone got both John Henriques and Angel Rodrigues on grounders. Nothing for the Arachnids in the top of the 7th. Nardacci grounds out 1-3 to open the bottom of the inning. Scorsone strikes out Holmes . Tim Brown hits a double. Gennelis walks. A Paul Post double plates Brown. 6-5 game. Gennelis at third, Post at second. As the day fades, Scorsone reaches deep and strikes out Jeff Madden swinging with a hard slider to end the game. Arachnids win 6-5. Watervliet is an excellent field. Yankees 5 runs, 10 hits, 2 errors, 3 walks, 4 Ks and leave 10 runners on base. Holmes, Brown, Genellis, and Smaka each had 2 hits. Arachnids 6 runs, 8 hits,9 walks, 3 errors, 2 Ks and left 13 runners on base. Scorsone went 2-2. Yankees are now 12-2 and the Arachnids 11-1.
