If you take a look at all three division schedules, you will see there's been 21 rainouts in the past 10 days.
This is extraordinary. We had almost 50% of our anticipated rainouts for an entire season occur in just 10 days.
Our managers have been diligently working to reschedule these games.
Players need to be flexible when managers ask for their availability. Games may need to be rescheduled on undesirable dates or times. But it's necessary to get these games rescheduled now. We have finite resources and if we get hit with another wet spell, it's possible we won't have the resources later in the year to reschedule additional rainouts.
But with all due respects, we should remember that those of us who have family commitments should NOT feel pressured by this unfortunate series of inclimate weather.
I commend all of the Commissioners and staff that pull things together and I pray that we will ALL come through this with the least amount of inconvenience as possible.
I love baseball, but my family will always come first...
I will echo the sentiments of "Gino" and say that while I can appreciate everything that goes into scheduling and trying to make it all work, I can't give up family obligations...
That said, I promise not to complain about the rescheduling of games if I am to expect the same courtesy if I have to say that I cannot make the make-up games.
If managers are forced to understand that we as players may not be able to make the rain-out reschedules then we the players must also realize that putting forth the effort to schedule these games isn't easy and that the managers and commissioners do the best they can.
