Game 2 of the finals is suspended after 4 complete innings.

The weather was not very cooperative last night at the A-Diamond,
for game 2 of the finals. The first two innings were played in cold and blustery conditions
and rain was added for innings 3 and 4.

It was the same for both teams, and both teams ignored the conditions and pushed through,
making the best of it. The Cubs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Carlos Espada
walked to start it off. He stole second and advanced to 3rd as the throw got away from the Yanks second baseman.
Chris Dunn followed with a sacrifice fly to plate the game's first run. One out later, new grandpa, Mike Reutter
singled, and his courtesy runner stole second. Jerry Rosen delivered a clutch 2-out RBI single, and the Cubs jumped
out to a 2-0 lead.

The Yanks battled back with 2 to tie the game, in the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Johnson started the rally by
reaching first by getting hit by a pitch. Carlos Llera singled and one out later, Darrel Duncan ripped a 2-out RBI double.

The Cubs and Yanks were unable to put up any runs in the 2nd as both Doug Duell and Mike Girard settled in. A light rain
and heavy wind greeted both teams for the start of the 3rd inning. The Cubs picked up a pair of runs in the 3rd to take a 4-2 lead.
Girard led off by taking one for the team. Chris Dunn stole second, as the courtesy runner, and a wild pitch got him to 3rd.
Mike Reutter grounded out to short, scoring Dunn, and the Cubs had the lead back. Jerry Rosen then got his second hit of the game.
An errant throw on an Andy Hoyle grounder to 3rd, put runners on 2nd and 3rd with just one out. Ron Massaroni followed with a
RBI groundout, to push the score to 4-2.

The Cubs then doubled their lead in the top of the 4th as the rain picked up in intensity. Espada worked his 3rd walk of the game,
with one out, and immediately stole second. A ground out later, Espada was on 3rd with two outs. Girard helped his own cause by
coming through with a full count, 2-out RBI single. Dunn was again inserted as a courtesy runner, and immediately stole second.
Mike Reutter then followed with a 2-out RBI single of his own. Suddenly, the Cubs were up 6-2.

This Yankee team does not quit! Bob Altobelli singled to start the bottom of the 4th, followed by a Darrell Duncan walk, and an error
on a grounder to first. Mark Marshall then hit a grounder to third with the bases loaded and nobody out. The Cubs third baseman
rushed to try to get the runner at home, but juggled the ball and ended up just getting the out at 3rd. Altobelli scored and the score was 6-3
with runners on first and second with just one out. Girard then induced a grounder to short that looked like it might be an inning ending double play,
but Dave Leonard hustled all the way and beat the throw to first. The play was not over, however. Jack Griffin started the play on second base and
tried to score while the Cubs were attempting to make the double play. After catching the throw from second, Cubs' first baseman Jim Bonaparte
wheeled and made the throw home in plenty of time to nail Griffin trying to score. In Jack's defense, the rain was coming down pretty hard and
he felt that it was a difficult play to make in those conditions. The Cubs made the play, and the inning was over, with the Cubs still leading 6-3.

At that point the umps jumped in and stopped the game. With a forecast that showed a very good chance that the rain would continue for a few hours,
the decision was made to suspend the game after 4 complete innings, finishing the game on Thursday night, restarting the game at 8:15 pm at the A-Diamond.

Will the Yankees be able to mount the comeback and force a game 3 on Friday, or will the Cubs be able to close out the game, and take the Trophy?
Stay tuned to find out!
