It was a cold and windy evening to be playing baseball in the great Northeast last night. Dont think it got above 50° and was 48 when the game ended. In a nutshell, the arachnids came out of the gate strong and put five runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning powered by 4 base hits and 3 walks plus one Reds error. The spiders tacked on two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth making it an 80 ball game. The Reds broke through the ice in the seventh when Rick KNIPPER had a single to right field and hustled around to score after 2 home team errors. Final score Arachnids 8-1. Doug Hall and Ralph Caputo shared pitching duties for the Reds surrendering 10 hits, striking out three, hitting one batter, and allowing five walks. For the spiders, Darrell Duncan and TJ Scorsone allowed six hits, striking out two, hitting a batter, while issuing four walks. Jimmy Wing was 33 for the home team. Ralph Caputo had two hits for the Reds. There were many really fine plays in the field by both teams. The Reds have quite a bit of talent.
