The Whiz and Pirates played the late game at the A Diamond last night. The Pirates for the most part played a double header as the 62 side of the team played the early game at the A Diamond. The Pirates put a scare to the Whiz as they scored 3 in the top of the 1st. Jim Jasiewicz walked, followed by 2 infield errors had the bases loaded with no outs. Burns got the 1st out on a sac fly by John Haff. A double by Rick Knipper led to 2 RBI's to complete the scoring for the Pirates. Bottom of the 1st had Joe Burns and Paul Graziano reach on walks followed by singles from Jim Hicks, Doug Reisinger, Gene Hallenbeck and Barry Friedman which led to 4 runs for the Whiz. Bottom of the 2nd had the Whiz add 2 runs. 2 walks, a single by Barry Friedman and a double by Reisinger accounted for the Whiz runs. Bottom of the 3rd had the Whiz add 7 more runs. 3 walks, a hit batter along with singles by Jan Friedman, Mike Kane, Barry Friedman and Greg Mangione led to the Whiz runs. Bottom of the 4th had the Whiz tack on 7 more. A hit batter, walk and singles by Kane, Graziano, Hicks, Jan Friedman and a double by Burns led to the Whiz runs. For the Whiz Burns and Kane combined to give up 2 hits, 4 K's and 1 BB's. For the Pirates 4 pitchers combined to give up 16 hits, 2 K's, 10 BB's and 2 HBP. For the Whiz, Barry Friedman and Kane were 3-4, Jim Hicks was 2-3. Burns and Reisinger each had a double.
