The Twins and Americans got down to business in a game that was originally scheduled for A diamond but moved to Clifton Commons field which was in very poor condition. After being thrashed by the Twins 17-0 in five innings just one week ago the Americans were determined not to let that happen again as they jumped ahead 4-0 in the first inning helped by a crucial Twins error. Here are the vital statistics for the game. The Americans recorded seven base hits, including a double by ERICK SAMARIJA. The Twins banged out 16 hits but left a lot of runners on base. 4 costly errors committed by the Twins. No errors for the Americans and that was the saving grace for them. 6 earned runs for the Twins . 3 earned runs for the Americans. Leading hitters for the Americans were Dave Page and Mark Finelli with two hits each and SAMARIJA with a double. Leading hitters for the Twins were Ricky Saidenberg who went 4-4 and Joe HAUSER, John Reel, Ben Phillips, Steve Rychcik, and JEFF WHITEHEAD all with two hits each. Tough luck losing pitcher was Wayne Nicholsen who pitched the whole game. Winning pitcher was Barry Jackson who relieved starter Vinny Koster in the third inning. Credit the Americans who stiffened their collective backbones as the Twins made a late game charge but fell a little short. Final score, Americans win 8-6.
