The ARACHNIDS and REDS squared off at New Scotland this past Monday evening. The field is in very nice shape with a lot of work having been done on the off-season, including a new backstop and some new drainage. Beautiful evening. Arachnids had Wayne Nicholson on the mound and he went five good innings against a strong Reds team. Ralph Caputo was the starter for the Reds. There were not a lot of hits in the game as the Arachnids getting just 3 and the Reds managed 5. However, both teams made every hit count. The game pretty much boiled down to base running and defense. The Arachnids came away with a 4-2 victory over the very talented Reds. Nicholsen got the win with TJ Scorsone pitching the final two to pick up the save. The Reds used 4 pitchers-Caputo, Rick Knipper, Joe Burns, and Jeff Friedman. Leading hitters for the spiders were Ricky Saidenberg with a long double and Scorsone with two singles. Leading the Reds at the plate was Paul Miles with a double and Rick Knipper, Ralph Caputo, Griffin, and Joe Parker all with singles. There were three errors in the game, one by the Arachnids and two by the Reds.
