Wayne Nicholsen was the starter for the Arachnids and Jeffrey Whitehead got the call for the Peppers. New Scotland field. The field was well groomed, but the infield dirt was quite hard even though we had rain recently. Nicholsen yielded two hits to the Peppers in the top of the first, but got out of the inning unscathed. The Arachnids started quick in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs on 4 hits, including a long 2 RBI double to the right centerfield fence by Pat Alston. And thats the way it stayed , 3-0, until the top of the sixth when Darrell Duncan led off the inning with a booming triple followed by an RBI single from TJ Scorsone. Scorsone stole second and move to third on a fielders choice then scored on a sacrifice fly to center by STEFAN KOUTSAKIS. Final score,Arachnids win 5-0. Nicholsen pitched a complete game victory giving up seven hits, walking 2 and striking out 2. For thePeppers, JEFF WHITEHEAD pitched the first four allowing 3 runs on seven hits while striking out 2, both called third strikes. Dave Plew finished up for the Peppers giving up 2 runs on three hits and walking one. There was just one error in the game and that was by the spiders. leading hitters for the Peppers were Vinny Koster who went 2-3 including a double, JEFF WHITEHEAD 2-3, and Anthony Torre a long double in the seventh. For the arachnids Darrell Duncan 3-3including a triple, Rick Saidenberg 2-3,Pat Alston a double and 2 RBIs, and borrowed player John Reel had a long double down the line in left in the fifth inning.
