On beautiful July evening for baseball in the Town of New Scotland, the Arachnids and Pirates met for the second time this season. The Pirates, looking to avenge an earlier loss, jumped out right away plating 1 run on a hit, walk and throwing error in the top of the first inning. However, the Arachnids responded putting up 5 runs in each of the first 3 innings to open up a 15-2 lead. The Arachnids Rick Saidenberg relieved starter Lee Madsen in the 4th inning and continued to keep the Pirate bats in the brig, not allowing a run or hit in the 4th or 5th innings while the Arachnids offense added 6 more runs to open up a 21-2 lead. However, in the top of the 6th and 7th innings, the Pirates would not throw in the towel or walk the plank. In the top of the 6th the Pirates rallied, putting up 5 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and a HBP to cut the Spiders lead to 21-7. Then in the top of the 7th, as the sun was setting behind the trees, the Pirates offense continued where they left off, scoring 7 more runs on 4 hits, 5 walks and another HBP before the inning and game ended with a final score of 21-14, Arachnids. The Pirates finished with 14 Runs on 11 Hits and 12 Walks, while the Arachnids ended the evening with 21 Runs on 18 Hits and 9 Walks.
