Friedman started for the Reds and Potash started for the Cards at the B Diamond on a great evening for baseball. The field was hard and the hits were fast.

The Cards got one to start things going in the first with a Martin walk followed by a Shultis RBI single.
Potash sat down the Reds quickly in the first.

Friedman started the second inning striking out the first two batters before allowing a single to Potash. But a ground ball ended the inning.
With two outs in the second the Reds got back-to-back singles by Caruso and Jasiewicz threatening to tie things up, but a catch by Martin in left ended the threat.

In the top of the third, with two outs, Martin singled for and stole second. Shultis followed with his second single. Hallenbeck walked to load the bases before the third out was recorded to end the Cards threat.
Potash then sat down the Reds in order to keep the score at 1-0 Cards after three.

The Cards started to make a little noise with a leadoff single, stolen base and walk, before a fielder's choice and another walk loaded the bases with one out. Friedman then made a great move and throw to pickoff the runner at second. With two outs and runners at the corners, the runner on first took off on a stolen base attempt but was tagged out by rule, as the Cards had already successfully stolen second base. With that the Cards half of the inning was over stranding two and keeping the score 1-0.
The Reds came up with the top of the order and again the Potash's pitching had the Reds off balance with another 1-2-3 inning.

In the fifth the Reds called on Abrams, their crafty veteran. He started off with the reverse K. A single and a stolen base by Gomez bought up the top of the order. Vickerson bunted for a single and a bad throw allowed an insurance run to score. Martin then singled, his second of the game, to knock in the third run before a fielder's choice and a pop up to third ended the scoring. But, not before the Cards pushed the lead to 3-0.
The Cards then called on Chichester to hold the Reds down. The Reds knew they needed to get the bats going. Mitchell, who has been hitting the ball hard but mostly where they are, led off with a hard single to the outfield and followed with a stolen base. Friedman then singled and moved to second on an error. Then Caruso reached on what appeared to be a fielder's choice attempt to get the lead runner at the plate, but a rundown and a throwing error allowed the run to score with runners on the corners. Jaz singled up the middle on a ball that bounded over the mound to push the second run across. Durbak then hit into a 4-6-3 that allowed the tying run to score. Hall then singled before Chichester induced the 1-3 to end the inning with the score tied at three apiece aided by three errors.

The Reds then called on Burns to start the sixth. Three ground balls around the infield made quick work of the Cards while keeping the momentum with the Reds.
In the bottom of the sixth Abrams reached on an error and Burns was HBP. With one strike Shaw bunted a pop up near the plate inside the first base line that bounced off the catcher in fair territory that remained fair, but a throwing error scored Abrams giving the Reds their first lead of the game. Knipper followed with a single to give the Reds an insurance run. Mitchell then hit another line drive to center that looked to pad the lead, but the center fielder made the catch and all runners remained in place. Friedman then followed with a sac fly that pushed the lead to three before the third out was recorded.

Burns got a couple more ground balls before recording a catch to end the inning and the game with a 6-3 Reds win.
