Giants v Whiz


Giants and the Whiz played the late game at the A Diamond last night. Starting for the Giants was Ed Powell, for the Whiz Shane Flint. The Whiz scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st. Adam Ellenbogen led off with a single. With 1 out, Doug Reisinger hit an RBI double. The next batter reached on an error, followed by a pop out by the next. With 2 outs, Jim Macarelli hit an RBI double and scored on a Paul Graziano single to complete the Whiz scoring. Top of the 2nd the Whiz tacked on 2 more. With 1 out, Ellenbogen walked and stole second. Joe Burns hit a single moving the runner to 3rd. A pass ball scored a run and Reisinger hit a sac fly to score the 2nd run of the inning. The Giants went down quietly through the 1st 4 innings. Top of the 5th had the Whiz add another run. The 1st batter reached on an infield error but was cut down at 2nd on a fielder choice. The next batter struck out. With 2 outs, Graziano delivered an RBI single to complete the scoring for the Whiz. Joe Burns came in to pitch in the bottom of the 5th. Andy Pedone led off the inning with a double down the left field line followed by an infield single from Justin Luciani giving the Giants runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. The next batter grounded into a fielder choice play at 3rd. The next batter grounded back to the pitcher for the out at 1st. 2 outs with runners on 2nd and 3rd, the next batter grounded out to 2nd to end the Giants threat. Bottom of the 6th the Giants got a lead off single from Scott Bonanno, but the threat was ended with a 6-4-3 double play. With 2 outs Charlie Freer hit a single, but the next batter grounded out to short. Neither team mounted a threat in the 7th.
The final score was Whiz 7 - Giants 0

Ed Powell gave up 12 hits, with 4 K, 2 BB and 1 HBP For the Whiz, Macarelli, (2B), Graziano and Ellenbogen were 2-3, Burns was 2-4, Reisinger had a double.

Flint and Burns combined to give up 6 hits, with 1K and 1BB. For the Giants, Bonanno was 2-2 and Pedone had a double
