The Whiz and Yankees met for the 3rd time this season at the A Diamond. A game that had time constraints to accommodate the 33 playoffs. Starting for the Yankees was Doug Duell, for the Whiz Jim Macarelli. The Whiz got things going in the top of the 1st. Jeff Friedman led off with a single and moved to second. Doug Reisinger hit an RBI single. 1-0 Whiz after 1. Top of the 3rd the Whiz scored again. With 1 out Reisinger drew a base on balls and stole 2nd. Gene Hallenbeck hit an RBI single. Bottom of the 3rd had the Yankees get on the board. With 2 outs the Yankees got consecutive singles from Tim Burns, Lex Herrlett, Bob Antonelli and JJ Janetsky. Eric Duemler was hit by a pitch and the Yankees had tied the score after 3 innings, 2-2. The Whiz and Yankees had no major threat until the top of the 8th. Dave Smitherman came in for relief. Barry Friedman led of with a single followed by a walk to Warren Zeiser and a single by Paul Scutieri to load the bases. Adam Ellenbogen hit a grounder to 3rd who made the play at home for the 1st out. The catcher threw to 1st, but the runner was safe. The runner from 2nd base moved to 3rd and attempted to score when the throw went to 1st, but was thrown out at home for the 2nd out. The Yankees got the next batter to end a bases loaded no out threat unscathed. Bottom of the 8th had the Yankees threaten. With 1 out, Burns drew a walk, followed by a Herrlett single. The next 2 batters flew out to end the game tied at 2 due to the time constraints placed on the game. BS.

For the Yankees, Duell and Smitherman combined to tally 9 strikeouts, 6 BB while giving up 8 hits. Reisinger and Scutieri were both 2 for 3.

For the Whiz, Macarelli, Shane Flint and Jeff Friedman combined to 1 K, 3 BB, 3 HBP while giving up 9 hits. Herrlett led the team going 3 for 4.
