We got us a series, Vern! A couple of real barn burners! Series tied at 1-1. Game three this evening at 7:30 - free hot chocolate to the first 1000 fans through the gate!!!
For YEARS, anyone who's ever played as a Giant (this guys was a Giant 2007-2025) knows there were two mottos that we lived by........1) Shut up and play ball 2) Pitching and defense wins! The 2026 55 Giants showed up, shut up and played ball for these first two games! Pitching and defense have been stellar!!!!
Game 1: Giants 5 Cubs 4 - Giants came out of the gate with 4 runs in the first inning - a couple of errors, a few hits, bada-bing 4-nil! The wooden stake through the heart came in the 4th with Eddie Powell scoring what would be the winner! Cubs mounted a rally in the 7th but came up short!
Highlights Giants: - Jim "Here come the Judge" Davis pitched great for 7 innings. He's an actual Saratoga County judge - it's not just a frilly nickname! - Joe Coluccio, 2 hits - Man on Fire Wayne Phillips, 3 hits, Run scored - Joe Krause, 2 hits, Run scored and two great catches in left field that changed the direction of what could have been big Cub innings - Charlie Freer, 2 hits, Run scored, threw out two Cubs attempting to steal 2nd base - Chris Guido hit a bomb double in the 1st inning that did a whole bunch of damage! - Giants DEFENSE won this game, flat out!
