by..Rene LeRoux..a day ago · New York State Baseball Hall of Fame Fred Pidgeon : A Fond Farewell to a Great Man It is with great sadness that I say farewell to New York State Baseball Hall of Fame Fred Pidgeon, who left us yesterday. Fred was a friend to many, loved by all. Fred grew up in Guilderland, and went to University of Bridgeport on a football scholarship. But Baseball was Freds sport and was he good ! One of the best hitters in New York State history, Fred could hit ! Line Drives sprayed all over the field. I don't think i ever got Fred out once. He could wake up out of a sound sleep at 3 a.m. and get a hit. he played the game with joy . Even the opponents had to like Fred. I am having a memorial service at the HALL this Saturday at 1 p.m. 45 Harrison St, Gloversville, NY, where Freds induction plaque hangs on the Induction Wall.
