Mike Kane threw six quality innings, holding the Highlanders to one run on four hits, striking out five. Todd Calhoun pitched the 7th.
All 14 Pirates showed up and it seemed like everybody did something good. Ron Smaka quietly went 3-3, while the rest of us chipped in six additional hits (Yakatan, Tryon, Comensky, Moreau, Preller, McQuade).
For the Highlanders, John Kalinsky pitched a solid game with that big slow lefty curveball, never allowing us to mount a big inning. He also went 2-2 with a HBP.
