On a night where we all shed a few needed pounds in the suana, the Marlins pounded out a lopsided victory over the Fordians. Dave Mitchell had a home run that made the Fordians right fielder completely disappear. If you haven't played a game at the satellite fields at Voorheesville, then you will have trouble picturing this. There is quite a hill in right field. It goes up hill until about 350 feet and then goes down hill quite sharply. Dave hit the ball well over the crest of the hill. As the Fordians fielder chased the ball down the hill, he completely disappeared from sight of both benches. It was a first for me in my 35 + years of baseball. Phil Gadomski and Chuck Sohl limitted the Fordians offense (led by Jack Perry) to just four runs. The Fish all wish Chuck a speedy recovery from his knee surgery that is scheduled later this week.
