Wednesday night's game at New Scotland turned out to be just what the Silver's needed heading into the playoffs. The slumbering bats woke up and Jim Latorre had another solid outing. TJ Scorsone took one for his team. After a first inning, where the Marlins scored 10 runs, the game was no longer in doubt. Most pitchers would have handed the ball off to their manager and asked him to stuff it where there was no chance of sunshine (especially with the errors behind him that prolonged the inning). He instead, volutarily finished the game so that his manager would not have to waste another arm so close to the playoffs. Is there any manager out there that wouldn't love to have a guy like that on their staff?!
Mike is being modest, he neglected to mention the two bombs he hit. The second prestigous long ball a grand slam! Also of note John Reel went back to his 35", 40 oz. Big Johnson, and pounded the right field fence all night. Good to see the big sticks heating up for the play-offs. With the potentent hitters in their line-up, I expect the Highlanders will make some noise again this year in the post season. Good luck to everybody in the 38 play-offs this weekend. Tom
