Welcome sports fans to CDSMBL Bulletin Board, this is BL 44 reporting again. What another gorgeous Sunday for baseball at the New Scotland Field. Today Blue Thunder took on the Yankees for the third and final time this season. Truly this was a really good ball game. Well played by both teams. 7 innings in 1.5 hours. Rich Garbarino pitched a great, great game keeping the Yankee hitters off balance for most of the game. Great defense from Pete LaFlamme at 3B saved a couple of runs. Key defensive gem in the top of the 7th by John Hayden at 2B who really positioned himself well based on where Rich was pitching the batter and reacted to a line drive that looked like it would get through, doubling the Yankee runner off of first base. As always, hats off to those Yankees just another classy team who like all other teams, never give up. Next game up for the Blue Thunder is on 8/27 versus the Hornets and for the Yankees, 8/27 versus the Whiz Kids. Blue Thunder improves to 8-7 and the Yankees fall to 10-4. Yankees win the season series 2 games to 1.
