With this win the Golden Marlins clinched frst place. Chris Meyer provided the go ahead hit and had 2 RBI's. Dennis Scimeca went the distance on the mound.
The game was a special treat since the Whiz had 4 hits but the Marlins had 4 double plays. Defense was the name of the game which took about an hour and 45 minutes to play. It was fast paced and exciting all the way.
Congratulations to the Marlins for finishing 1st in the league. Not only are they a great bunch of guys, but it's a pleasure playing against them. They continue to be the standard by which the rest of the league tries to measure up to, and they do so with grace and confidence, not arrogance or boastfulness. Hats off to manager John Reel; not only for what he has done for his team, but what he has done to keep the 47+ division what it was intended to be: a place to have fun playing baseball! Hope to see you in the playoffs again this year. Jim P.
Those thoughts are appreciated. They mean more than the outcomes of games. We want to make baseball fun for all of the old coots who stretch, medicate, and take time from our active lives to get to games. Baseball forever.
