One of the players on my team - Don Ball - asked me to post the following message in search of softball players:
I am recruiting 18U players for the winter 2006 and spring 2007 softball season. Players throughout the area are eligible and the team will be comprised of high school juniors and seniors. We will offer winter practices and batting clinics as well as participate in indoor tournaments. In 2007 we will participate in local league play and enter appx. three tournaments. The team is designed for girls who want to fit competitive softball into their overall schedule. Interested players may contact me at ataball@msn.com or at 475-9560.
As long as you're looking for softball players - The Capital Region Women's Fast Pitch Softball League is a newly created open fast pitch league. Many of our players are from Division I colleges who want to remain active in the sport they love. Kind of reminds me of why we're still playing. Players range from 18 - 35. We are 11 teams strong. There are teams from Albany, Cohoes, Bethlehem, Colonie, Shenendehowa, Rotterdam, Queensbury, Amsterdam, Troy etc. The TU ran a nice article on our league a few weeks back. We play a 16 game schedule, some games under the lights and sponsor a tournament and playoff series. This year my team played a total of 26 games. This is competitive softball at its best - no high arc - it's bring it a hard as you can. To give you an idea of the caliber of player - three of my players made the Empire State team - quite an achievement for an elite regional team. New teams are always invited. So if you know either a player or teams who would be interested in our league, have them call me at 785-4602. They can also visit our web site at:
