Just when you thought that you had seen everything...

Game two of the Hummers vs. Silver Marlins semi-finals was suspended in the middle of the 5th inning, due to darkness. What is unusual about that you may ask. Well, we were playing at Central Park A-diamond, where there are lights. When 38+ Commissioner, Kevin Jackson approached the Central Park staff to turn on the lights, he was told that they could not turn the lights on due to two events that were going on already in the park. At the tennis stadium they were having some Disney event for area kids that required the use of a huge video screen. At the ampitheater they were having a concert. The head of the Central Park staff informed Kevin that he could not turn on the lights at the ballpark because it would cause a glare on the video screen at the tennis stadium, and there would be some sort of risk of a power overload with all that was already going on in the park.

This really messed up what was shaping up to be a classic game. The game was tied at 1 with both John Latorre and Phil "Mash" Gadomski pitching gems. The game will restart on Monday 8/28 at the A-diamond, with the Hummers batting in the bottom of the 5th. If the Marlins win, they will win the series 2-0. If the Hummers pull it out, they will force a game three that will immediately follow the end of game two. This pushes back the start of the finals to Tuesday night.

Just when you thought that you had it all figured out...

And the Central Park staff didn't know this before we booked the date???
Too bad, 'cause LaTorre and Mash were tossing gems, and it was shaping up to be a real classic. I hope both pitchers can go on three days rest and pick up where they left off.
What time will the suspended game begin?
