Everyone knows the catcher for the Vets, Bob Lawyer. If you know him then you come to love him as I do. You also know he his tough as nails It is with sadness that I pass this news onto you. As I write this, Bob is under going triple by-pass surgery. He exhibited symtoms, on Christmas evening. He under went some stress tests yesterday, and that apparently was enough to warrent surgery. He is at St. Pete's. Please extend your thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery. ---- One other important item. How great it is that we have an extended baseball family, that we can certainly share the good times, but more importantly the tough times. How fortunate to have CDMSBL. ---I'll give you a heads up on his condition as soon as I get more info. Tony
Bob, I need to here you barking from behind the plate as you keep your team focused, and then share a beer and pretzel after the game to keep it all in perspective. Get well soon, my friend, and on behalf of all the WhizKids, I hope to see you back on the filed in April. Jim Porter
Bobby, get well soon. I know the Goldens and everyone who has crossed your path is rooting you on. Ain't nothing like a game with you in it. and nothing like sharing the 8th inning with you. Easy on those nurses .......ah crap ,,,give em hell. See you soon. John Reel
you call great games, my battery mate, so i'm counting on you to call this one, too. tell yourself you're going to get better, day after day. i'll be doing the same from my end.
Bob - ain't nobody tougher or better to step up to the plate on this one........get better quickly, as you're needed out here to continue to make the league what it is! I'll switch you over to the low carb beers with me.....not a real religious guy, but sending one up for you!
Bob - as I've come to know you over the years , especially from being in Florida together, I've gotten to know you as enthusiasm personified and an all around good guy. You're the type of person that the league had in mind when we started -giving your all on the filed and off... I know I'll see you on the field again this summer... so now that you've had the surgery, now I know why you kept saying, "I'm REALLY tired." Hang in there, buddy - we're all thinking of you and wishing you the best...
At this time of the year when ALL of us are focused on unity, family and togetherness, I would like ALL of us to say a prayer and keep our thoughts strong for a member of OUR CDSMBL family - Bob Lawyer. As a member of this league for the past few years and having the honor and opprtunity to play against you Bob, you truly are a man of high caliber and integrity. I for one and I am sure our league as a whole, sincerely wish you a safe and " speedy" recovery. I know you will do your best to get back out there and yell and root for your teammates as you have always done. We will see you sometime in 2007 - better than ever. Be well and may God beless you and your family.
Great to hear that surgery went well. Looking forward to having you back on the field even if it means a few more K's for me when you are behind the plate calling the pitches. You have my continued prayers for a speedy recovery.
