Sad news ...
(Preview)
Tim Lane passed away Sept. 15. As many of you know, he played in the SF Giants chain and is an Albany Twilight League Hall of Famer. He was also the father of 9, including Dennis Lane. I'm sure all of us who knew him and played with him or against him are feeling this loss. He was a class guy and will be sorely mi...

Over in a flash.

The Cubs and Dodgers faced off last night, at the A-Diamond, in game one of the 55+ semi-finals. The Cubs got a late cancellation from their game one starter (Chris Mason) due to a work commitment. No worries, as Chris Dunn, who pitched 7 innings on Saturday in a 45+ quarter-final playoff game, stepped...

Thank you, Lord!
(Preview)
There is only one explanation for the Cubs vs Pirates playoff game being able to be played in full, last night at Rogowicz Field in Cook Park. There was rain, wind, and lightning all around us. The forecast was for it to hit us at about 7:00 pm. Then the forecast said 6:00 pm, and the skies became ominous at...

55 Twins-Yankees One and Done Result of 9-6-23
(Preview)
Under the lights for the first time all season. Rogowicz Field. When Jeff Whitehead and I arrived from Massachusetts an hour and a half before game time who was out prepping the field ? Lex Herlett. Pulling tarps. Raking. Tamping. Putting down the lines. And it was hot. And sticky. Nary a complaint fro...

Dodgers get nocturnal to advance.
(Preview)
In a game that went past most of our bedtimes the Dodgers played some good playoff baseball to get by the Giants. The game that was originally scheduled to start at 5:30 got bumped to an 8:00 o'clock first-pitch because some kids wanted to have a baseball practice. Imagine that - kids taking priority ov...

Old guys aren't supposed to have this much fun ...
(Preview)
but we, on the over-62 Americans, did this past season. We're a lucky bunch: we won some (9, counting playoffs), lost some (8), and laughed a lot. The Yankees Tim Brown wrote a fine write-up here on the bulletin board of the playoff contest which turned out to be our final game, a taut 2-0 loss to Tim's Yan...
