With Emily Post on speed-dial to referee any emergency baseball etiquette questions, the Cubs and Mets met on a chilly wind-blown field in Burnt Hills. Strong pitching from Rosello, combined with three innings of hitless relief from LaCouture, earned Rosello his first-ever win in the CDMSBL. Backing up the Cubs pitchers, Donnie (Base)Ball, Jose Moreno and Dave Shaver made all the hard plays look easy, while Mike LaBarge was, as usual, rock-solid behind the plate.
The Mets are a nice addition to the league. Manager Jim Bonaparte has assembled a good group of personalities, with good hitters up and down the lineup. They hit more monster bombs than Ive seen yet this season - fortunately for the Cubs, most of them were pulled foul. But once they straighten those hits out, theyll do some damage to some poor unsuspecting team.
