Silvers 5 - Giants 1

the winning run was scored in the top of the first and the game just seemed to unfold with not much drama. The Giants looking to get on a roll have had a hard schedule and some hard luck. they stranded runners in 2 crucial innings , one early when a double play was the stopper and in their sixth at bat when Mike Aiello worked the count full with runners on 2nd and third but lined out off of Pitcher Mash Godomski's ankle.....the ball rolled over towards first for a franitc 1-3 put out. Marlins bat weren't particaully loud but Dave Mitchell had a key 2 RBI double to give Mash some breathing room. Ron Lochner lined one to left early and Skip Treece singled in a run mid way. Jim Konstantakis pitched 6 strong innings in the loss. Jim has brought in some new comers to the league that should improve his team.
Both teams retreated to their kangaroo courts after the game until the infamous New Scotland skeeters retook the park. We hardly got to discuss all the critical factors and hang the guilty parties. We did briefly join forces to discuss a possible Maine trip in the 45's over the July 6th-8 weekend. Seems the New Hampshire bunch has elected not to hold the tourny "this year" and its being held in Portland along with the younger age divsions, 25+ and 35+. I would encourage some of you younger guys to look into to going. Albany has sent numerous teams up there since 1995 or so and have won the thing three times. they do a great job and its a fun area . many take it like a vacation and bring the family. but you got to act fast to get in. I believ eat least one 35+ is going too.

Just a note to add to this victory. I have been a part of the Marlins for 6 or 7 years now, and it never ceases to amaze me how we seem to pull off victories like this one. With names like Sohl, Craft, Maney, Coons, and Duncan missing from the starting line-up most teams would have had trouble mustering enough of a line-up to put a win on the board against a team like the Giants. With an infield that included an over-sized shortstop, Skip Treece out of position at second, and Jim Ansel at first, the Marlins got what they needed out of a veteran pitcher in his first start of the season. Mash came up huge and pitched seven complete innings by scattering the hits and always coming up big when the Giants had runners in scoring position. Someone always seems to come-up with a big performance when we are in hot water. Great group of guys to be a part of!

Note to 38+ pitchers: Billy Smith is on fire!!!

You think the Silver's are loaded. The Golden's have a whole continent.

So, you don't think that I should sign with them next year when I become eligible?

I didn't think eligibility was an issue. Weren't you playing in the 28's when you were 12?

Yeah, I was "rookie of the year" 3 years in a row.
I love White-out!
