Jerry Solomon tossed another strong game for the 2-4 Giants. He struck out 4 and gave up just 3 hits in 4 innings. Wayne Philips pitched the final 2, giving up just one unearned run on 2 hits.
Giants scored 4 runs on just two hits in the first, then added a 4-spot in the third Dan Maguire's single and Phillips' two-run double that highlighted the inning.
Maguire had two hits to lead the Giants' 10-hit attack. JimK
Here's the situation, and I have my opinion but I'll let your peers decide this one. Runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs, 10 or 11 run lead(does it really matter!!) and a drag bunt is layed down for a hit. What's everybody think?
I think I wouldn't want to be the on-deck hitter. The infamous bunt to break up a no-hitter aside, there seems to be a significant increase in this type of activity. They apologized later, although cold refreshment would have been better received, but in the last two weeks, I've seen a double steal up 9-1, and a stolen base up 13-0. The baseball Gods had their say in the first case - not only an out, but a month long "vacation". We've all been on both sides of lopsided games. Think about the last time you were down a dozen before you take off to pad your stats or satisfy some urge.
