In what is becoming a failiar pattern the Yankees opened up a close game late and started the second half of the season by beating the Vets by a final score of 12-2. Highlights of the game included a bases clearing single by Artie Gianakos, adiving catch by Todd Baldwin in center field, a run scoring double by Jerry Solomon and a nice Caputo to Newcomb to Eplite double play to stop a late Vets rally when the outcome was still in doubt. The offense made the most of the nine singles and one double. Artie got the win Jerry & Ralph cloed it out. Hats off to Bill Gervin who pitched gutsy a heck of a game for the Vets until tiring in the 5th.
