38+ - Marlins 1 - A's 1 (9 Inn) 7/5 Voorheesville

In a fine Baseball game, the Marlins and A's tied at 1 after 9 innings.

It was scoreless until the 4th inning when Mike Girard drove in Randy Craft with a 2 out single. The 1-0 score held up until the 7th when the A's when John Haff, running for Ed Class (led off with a single), scored on Shawn MacKinnon's single down the left field line.

Three A's pitchers (Brian Kent, Kevin Moon and Bucky Kruzinski) held the Marlins to three hits over the nine innings (Girard, Ansel and a booming triple by Mitchell). The Marlins pitchers (Ansel, Latourre) were similarly effective, scattering the A's nine hits and shutting them down when threatening. For the A's, MacKinnon and Moon each had 2 singles.

It was a fast paced, superbly played game. Real baseball!

Who needs umps!

That was great baseball. It was a well-played, spirited, and intense nine innings. But, the most outstanding part was the sportsmanship, extra innings with every call and every play making a difference, and we didn't even have umpires. Way to go, A's.
