Hum'N'Birds 11 - White Sox 4

With weather threatening all night, and tolerance and persistence of umps to help get the game in, the Birds prevailed over the Chisox 11-4, in a game closer than the score indicates, at always great to play Gruner Stadium.
Earl Mitchell was masterful with a great duece and sneaky fastball in scattering 4 hits, and notching 3 K's in the route job.......After matching goose egg no-no's through 2, and goose eggs through 2 1/2, a Frank Pronesti (sp.) 2- bagger, plated 2 runs, after getting a second life on a great hustle/dive drop of a foul pop-up by the White Sox catcher Del Torto.........the Kingston club moved out to a 6-0 lead, on a cluster of base hits and a sac fly......the Pale Hose chipped back with 2 in the 5th, and 2 in the 6th to close to 6-4. Unfortunately, after a ground out, single and pop-up, the White Sox surrendered a fatal crooked number with two outs, allowing 5 unearned runs on sloppy play in the bottom of the 6th, as the H'Birds increased their lead to what would be the final score. John LaTorre had 2 hits and run scored to add to Pronesti's production. White Sox were paced by Mark Dolan and Joe Del Torto with base knocks, and the late arriving Ralph "Superman" Marrero's working his way on in each of his at bats, notching a ribby, run scored and stolen base.
The Birds, ever the good hosts, then broke bread with the Sox, with some of the best pizza outside NYC. Thanks to Jerry, Skip and all the H'Mn'Birds. The White Sox (previously Fordians, Knights, and early year Peppers always look forward to our trip down the Thruway.

Love your recaps Jimmy - Just wondering, what color sweatpants were you wearing the other night when you got that "W" on the hill?
