The regular season came to a end last night and the Mets closed the season with a win against the Cubs by a score of 10-3. Both teams were playing shorthanded as has all this month of July and early August. Jim Jansen ran his record to 3-1 and the Mets had some fine hits. Dominck (Robo Cop) Lee broke into the hit category for the first time and played a great game. Good luck to all in the playoffs and most of all I hope every one stays injury free. Jim Bonaparte Mets 11-9
Nice recap, again, Jim. I've enjoyed all your posts this season, always gratious, win or lose; your Mets have been a great addition to the league.
In terms of talent this is the deepest the 38s have ever been, with great players and shut-down pitchers on even the so-called "second division" teams. I sympathize with anybody facing a single-elimination game, because I don't think there's a team out there that can't win a big game. Again, our first season, in 2001, we went 2-19 -- took some terrible beatings -- and damn if we didn't beat the Spartans and knock them out of the playoffs. They took us lightly, we got some breaks, and it was one of our sweetest victories ever. The past is over; now it's all about playing those seven innings. Anything can happen.
