I know that I have mentioned already many times how honored and blessed I feel to have been on the same team as Tommy Maney, but I feel the need to put it out there again. Last night's game one in the 38+ Finals was another glaring example of why he should not only be in our Hall of Fame, but maybe the whole damn Hall should be named the Tom Maney Hall!!! Just a couple or three weeks after an excrutiatingly painful seperated shoulder in a 47+ Marlins game Tom was playing left field in the seventh inning of a tied championship series game one for the Silver Marlins. A little flare off the bat of Mark Lenox was heading his way and by the time that Tommy reached the ball Mark was already rounding first and looking like he was headed for second. Knowing full well the risk, Tommy reached back for the throw to second. As soon as the ball left his fingers, he cried out in pain and dropped to the ground. His shoulder had popped out again. The pain was again excrutiating for Tommy and those of us who love the guy! To watch your friend and teammate go through that for you and the rest of your team is also quite inspiring. The Orioles may have won game one on that hit, but they should be ready for a highly motivated Silver Marlins squad on Wednesday night in game two. This team is united in their love of this guy and will be all out to try and bring him a victory in games two and three.
Tommy: games two and three are dedicated to you Pal!!!!!
Mike, everything you said about Tommy is absolutely true. I saw the pain Tommy was in at our 47+ game and to now hear it happened again is hard to take. When the word "tough" was put in the english language they should have put in parentheses (Tommy Maney). Tommy will bounce back again because he is Tommy Maney!! Get well again Tommy!
TOMMY, I HOPE YOU ARE OKAY...THAT SEAT IS WAITING FOR YOU WEDNESDAY, IF YOU'RE UP TO IT. THE COOLER WON'T BE FAR OFF EITHER. GET BETTER SOON:) I'VE ONLY KNOWN YOU A SHORT TIME, BUT EVERYTHING THAT MIKE WROTE IS TRUE. YOU REALLY ARE AMAZING. HOW ELSE COULD YOU GET THE NICKNAME THE "BIONIC MAN". TAKE CARE.
Thank-you; Mike, we have always had a special bond on the Silvers. Winning and losing championships is the cement to our strong foundation. I am overwelmed by the outpouring of care by my Marlin family, and how special you all are to me. At one point someone was rubing my neck, and thru that touch, I released that person was experiencing my pain. It was doc Ansel. In looking into each of my teammates eyes, I saw that same pain, and knew I would feel the same had it been one of my Marlin family. You are all a gift to me. Go get em! Mane
