Black Sox versus Marlins

Thanks to Vince Koster and Mark Johnson for arriving early to prep the Rotterdam Babe Ruth field for our game last night.

The Marlins were looking to shut down the Black Sox and move onto the finals of the 47 division. Foreman was on the bump for the Sox and Westfall for the Marlins. The Sox left Sarubbi stranded at third in the first inning for the third game in a row. The Marlins Treece led off with a single and scored the Marlins first run. The Sox finally got untracked and scored 6 in the top of the second on some hits, good baserunning and a couple of missplays by the Marlins. But the Marlins came back in their half and scored two making it 6-3 after two. The turning point came in the bottom of the fourth when Foreman walked the first 2 Marlins and Randy Woods singled loading the sacs. Mr. Foreman stepped off the mound, rubbed the back of his neck and surveyed the landscape of the diamond. He then proceeded to retire the Marlins 1-2-3 without allowing a run. The Sox continued to hit and run to add to their lead. Sarubbi was summoned to pitch the final two innings for the Sox and closed the game out with the Sox on top 13-6. It was a solid team effort by the Sox with everyone contributing.
I apologize for not having the scorebook in front of me, or for that matter in my posession, but Koster played his usual steady game with 3 hits and a couple of runs scored, along with outstading defense. I think Skip had 3 hits for the Marlins.

The final game of this semi-finals should be an exciting affair. Keep posted as to the date of the game which will occur after the LD Touranment.
