Marlins jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in game one. In the top of the 5th, New Jersey caught and passed the Marlins scoring 11 runs. The Marlin bats went cold and the game was stopped after seven innings due to time limit. The final was 18-9.
In game two, John Latorre took the mound and steadied the Marlin team. The Marlins scored early and often while Latorre held the Atlanta team to two runs through seven innings. Atlanta added unearned runs in the 8th. Albany won the game 19-4.
Jerry Solomon hit a three run double to break the game open early. Mike Girard and Kevin Jackson also had bases clearing doubles.
Four teams are tied at 1-1 after day 1. Marlins pick it up again 12:45pm Friday at Brighthouse Network Stadium (Spring Training home of the Phillies).
