Putting the rumors of their demise to rest, the Hose (or would Hoes be more appropriate?) notched their first win of the season.
Mick Novak pitched a gem, going the distance while striking out 10. The Shasky's worked their way on base in 5 of the 7 innings, but stranded 8 runners.
Rich Cooney started for the Shasky's and kept the Sox off balance until the 3rd when he was the victim of 2 unearned runs. The Sox struck for four more in the 5th, with Mick Novak tripling in Joe Del Toro, Joe Fitzgerald plated Novak with a single, and Tommy Smith finished the scoring with his first career CDMSBL HR. Don McCann reached base safely in three AB's, notching 2 SB's and a run. Fred Phillips went 2-3 and Mark Callahan had a single and HBP to lead the Shasky attack.
I had them make me a Sammy Sosa model, had to send them the cork though. They actually have some pro models this year - Big Sloppy, Vlad, and Tejada - $90 and come with a free syringe. I get the $60 rock maple. Web site is ballgloves.com. Shipping is very reasonable and super fast.
