Black Sox vs. Vets

The Black Sox and Vets nines took to the diamond on a perfect afternoon for baseball. It was good to see old friends and former teammates. The Sox scored in the first four innings and went down in order the last three innings. The Vets scored two in the third to make it 5-2 Sox. The Vets were posed to score more but a 5-2-3 DP allowed the Sox to escape a potential explosive inning. The Sox scored their final run in the fourth to make it 6-2. Sarubbi took over for Foreman in the bottom half of the fourth and held the Vets scoreless for two innings. The Vets continued to threathen each inning, with only one inning going down 1-2-3. Finally, in the sixth they scored to make it 6-3. The bottom of the seventh started the way a team in the lead likes it, with a strikeout. One down two to go. The Vets weren't ready to go so easily, though. The next three batters with a hit, a BB and another hit loaded the bases. A FC plated the fourth run for the Vets. With runners on first and third and two out a hard hit grounded was turned into a 5-3 final out. Final score 6-4. Tony, you and your men put up a good fight. Good luck the rest of the way. The Sox were lead offensively by Noto with two hits and 3 RBI, and Musella and Aiello each with a hit and 2 runs scored. Scanu and Petrone, each with a hit and run scored, and Pino and Smith each with an RBI led the Vets offense.

I forgot to mention the umpiring crew which did an excellent job. The strike zone was consistent and several close plays in the field were called correctly. Seamless in their effort.
